OAKSEY villagers are revealing the secrets to their favourite recipes in a cook book to celebrate the Millennium.
Oaksey Village Hall Trust treasurer Val Price said the book was inspired by 32 American tourists who stayed with families in the village in 1998 and commented on how much they enjoyed the food.
She said: "They all wished there was a recipe book."
She said the 96-page, illustrated cook book contained various traditional English recipes, but also included continental fare and recipes sent over by the American tourists. Each recipe was accompanied by village anecdotes and stories.
The book was funded by a grant of £200 from Wiltshire Rural Initiatives, and £250 from Oaksey Parish Council.
The recipes can be sampled when the book is launched at Oaksey Village Hall on November 24, at 7.30pm.
Tickets cost £2.50, including a three course meal, and are available from Marianne Taylor-Seymour on (01666) 577380 or at the door. Proceeds from the sale of the book will be divided between the village hall and the All Saints Church repair fund.
