BROAD Town School's recycling efforts have won a gold award from Wiltshire Wildlife Trust.
The trust's education officer, Matthew Bunt, led a special assembly and presented a framed certificate to mark the school's collection of 25 tons of paper for recycling.
"You are helping to spread the message about looking after our brilliant, fragile planet earth," he told the children. "We can all do something about rubbish."
Mr Bunt invited nine-year-old Daniel Westron to become a blindfolded dustbin detective.
Daniel succeeded in identifying waste paper, smelly kitchen waste apple cores, peelings, banana skin plastic and glass. Children then suggested ways of reducing waste materials, and re-using or recycling items to lessen amounts going to landfill.
