KINGS Day Nursery in Malmesbury is aiming to raise more than £1,000 for the Children In Need Appeal with a variety of activities centred around teddy bears.

Nursery head Alison Withers said they were featuring a different teddy bear as guest of honour each day this week.

Monday had seen nursery pupils introduced to Children in Need mascot Pudsey Bear, while Paddington Bear was the star of the show on Tuesday.

Yesterday's theme was Goldilocks and the Three Bears, while today children will bring their own favourite cuddlies to the nursery for a teddies' tea-party.

Mrs Withers said: "We are all having a brilliant time. The children are really enjoying the activities."

Tomorrow children will come to school dressed as teddies, and will make Pudsey Bear pictures with coins donated by their parents. The children will also take part in sponsored sleeps and silences with their teddies.

In addition, nursery staff are holding a cake sale at the Market Cross between 9.30am and 11.30am tomorrow.

Mrs Withers said: "Last year we raised £998 for Children In Need through our activities and a sponsored walk, so this year we are hoping to collect even more."
