POLICE have appealed for witnesses to a public disturbance in Northgate Street at the weekend when special constable of the year, Emma Jane Brown, was slightly injured.
Officers were called to the street outside the Kebab House at about 2am after reports of a fight between two men. Miss Brown, who was named Wiltshire's top voluntary policewoman in September, tried to intervene to stop the disturbance and was punched in the face.
She received a glancing blow resulting in a bruised jaw.
It was considered she did not need hospital treatment and she went on to complete her shift.
The two men have been interviewed but no charges have been made. Police are asking anyone who saw the fight develop to contact them on (01380) 722141.
