A charity which helps the victims of road accidents is £140 better off thanks to a new internet legal advice scheme supported by a Swindon law firm.

Can I Claim?, launched at the beginning of October, is an online site providing legal information, advice and assistance to the victims of accidents and medical negligence.

It also lets victims find out for free from a panel of specialist personal injury and medical negligence lawyers whether it is actually worth pursuing their claim.

For every online accident assessment questionnaire received, its parent company Law on the Web has agreed to donate £5 to the charity RoadPeace.

RoadPeace provides emotional and practical support to the bereaved and those injured in road accidents.

The initiative is being backed by Bower and Bailey law firm who are based in Regent Circus and in the last month has raised £140 for RoadPeace.

The site's founder, former solicitor Martin Davies, said: "There seems to be a natural reluctance in the UK to pursue claims. Our site helps to overcome the hurdles."
