An expert report delivered to EU finance ministers this week confirmed that the UK is the only major nation within the EU with a viable long-term public pensions system.

Frank Field, former Labour minister and welfare expert, says that Britain and Denmark, the only other country with a properly funded scheme, may be forced by the EU to join a system of pooled pensions, which would cause British taxpayers money to be used in a bail out of the French, Germans, Spanish and Italians.

Eurorealists have been warning for years that this situation would arise and, as usual, the British political establishment has claimed that it would never happen.

Once again we have seen Europhiles consistently deny the truth until, quite suddenly, what had been proclaimed to be impossible becomes a fact. Michael Morton
