BEING the last surviving member of the once quite strong and active Bishops Cannings branch of the British Legion, formed in 1947, I was once again disappointed at 11am on Remembrance Day to find myself the only attendant at the church and the memorial to those which had fallen in the two world wars.
I was further appalled when, at 11am, the bells of the church, which had been ringing, continued to do so.
There was not even a pause, let alone for two minutes' silence.
I can only assume they were ringing for their own gratification.
