Sterling defensive work by the Cricklade midfield restricted Chippenham to a sole penalty in the first half. Cricklade replied with a try from Simon Howse, who darted over the line to score.
In the second half it was not long before Cricklade were able to extend their lead. A sustained period slick passes and good ball-retention ended in Howse setting off on a jinking run to score under the posts. Danny Lloyd converted.
Chippenham hit back with a try to cut the gap. The pressure continued to build, resulting in a few bad-tempered incidents.
