The vast majority of teachers in Wiltshire will have been rejoicing following the resignation of the Chief Inspector of School, Chris Woodhead.
Teachers know that the way to motivate pupils is to praise, to encourage, to celebrate success, followed by some constructive criticism. In his treatment of teachers, Mr Woodhead chose none of these methods, preferring to make negative and unsubstantiated generalisations, followed by negative comments. I hope that his successor has a more positive effect on the morale of teachers.
