WITH Selectabook's Sunday cup game cancelled and pitches in Devizes waterlogged, the only game to go ahead was Trowbridge Wanderers v The Greyhound.
The game started at a very fast pace with The Greyhound missing two good chances
Dave Melin of Wanderers opened the scoring after 14 minutes with a spectacular overhead kick from Darren Cullen's free kick that left the keeper standing. It took 11 minutes for The Greyhound to equalise when a player was brought down in the area and a penalty awarded.
Mike Eddy stepped up and placed it in the bottom left corner to make it 1-1. Three minutes later a 35-yard pass from Chris Sharp found Paul Clarke who rounded the keeper and knocked it in to give Wanderers a 2-1 lead.
Paul Clarke gained his second of the game before half-time when he picked up the ball and slotted it across the keeper to find the bottom right corner, giving Wanderers a 3-1 half-time lead.
The second half again saw The Greyhound come out attacking but with play then going from end to end it was Dave Melin who opened the scoring again with a 25-yard lob. Rich Gillingham made it 5-1 to Wanderers on 36 minutes when he tapped in off a rebounded ball.
Two minutes later Simon Hardwick pulled it back to 5-2, firing into the top right hand corner of the net from the edge of the area. Paul Clarke gained his hat-trick on 42 minutes again rounding the keeper to slot home, and Rich Gillingham sealed the game a minute later with a shot that was deflected into The Greyhound's net. Final score 7-2 to Trowbridge Wanderers.
