FROME Rangers took full advantage over United Front not playing their suspended striker Barry Davies, in the 6-2 win in the Westbury five-a-side league.
Rangers player manager Steve Sykes netted his first ever goal for the red and blacks with a well placed shot.
The first week of the league cup qualifiers went well for Direct Sports who managed to take all nine points from their three games and they lead Group A. Ian Smudger Smith believes that if his players can give 100 per cent then the cup is theirs for the taking.
Nick Stanley and Sean Lanigan of Ocean Black combined well to produce a total tally of 10 goals and six points putting them second in group A.
Group B was a much tighter affair, which included two draws. The biggest upset was league leaders the Castle only managing one win from the three games.
Chris Sheppard saved the Castle's blushes with some hard work and three fine goals.
Phil's Five were beaten narrowly by Untouchables in a game which included a stunning goal from Phil Gratton of Phil's five which rocketed past Untouchables player/manager and goalkeeper, Roger Ingram. Rob Abel gave Untouchables the edge in the second half with his fine performance.
Sean Price of Phil's Five capped off his nightmare performance with a penalty miss. Martin Hedges of Red Five scored four goals for his side, which puts them third in group B and just one point below a cup semi-final slot.
Next Sunday is the second week of League cup qualifying matches.
