AN area of land looks set to be sold to make way for the Semington diversion.
Wiltshire County Council wants to buy part of Shails Lane running between Semington Road and the Christie Miller Centre on Bowerhill.
The piece of land is owned by West Wiltshire District Council and is needed as part of the proposed Semington-Melksham diversion.
The sale was due to be approved by the district council's northern area committee last night.
Terms and conditions of the sale will be thrashed out by county and district officers.
The four-mile-long, £9m bypass was given planning permission in July.
The new road will take around 18,000 vehicles a day away from the main village of Semington, Berryfield and Little Marsh.
