SOUNDproofing work must be carried out at a Bradford on Avon pub before live bands can play on the premises.
Former licensees of The Bear Inn, in Silver Street, were granted a six-month trial public entertainment licence in May after fears that noise from the pub would disturb neighbours.
The licence was granted on the condition that an acoustic engineer was called in and improvement work was carried out.
Work has not been completed because of a change in management at the pub and the trial licence period is now over.
West Wiltshire District Council received several complaints between May and July.
The council's northern area committee was due to discuss an application for a licence from new landlords Paul Mitchell and Gloria Coppeard last night.
Environmental health officer David Bardwell recommended the application is deferred until work to reduce noise emissions is carried out.
He said in the meantime no further entertainment that needs a licence should be held at the pub.
