Football fan Dave Evans is looking for someone to fill a bathtub full of baked beans and his friends are getting ready for a hair-raising experience.

Mr Evans, 34, is planning to spend 24 hours sat in a tub of cold beans.

He will raise money for Highworth youngster Richard Hester, 12, who has cerebral palsy, but he needs to find a sponsor to provide him with hundreds of cans of beans.

"We decided we would do something to help raise money for Richard, to buy him some equipment," said Mr Evans.

"I decided to sit in a bath full of beans for 24 hours, but I need a supermarket or someone to sponsor the beans."

The Honda section manager, is a committee member for Highworth Football Club, and will be joined by fellow supporters Rohan Haines and Paul Richards, who will have their heads shaved to raise money for Richard.

"We know Richard's mum, Sue, who comes to the club, which is how we know about Richard and his disability," said Mr Evans. "He obviously has a lot of difficulties, and one of the things he needs is a Neater Eater, which is a hydraulic machine that helps him to feed himself.

"We hit upon the idea of me sitting in the bathtub and Rohan and Paul having their heads shaved, but the only problem is that I don't have enough beans."

The fundraising effort will start at The Rec, where the club is based, at 8pm on Friday, November 24, with Mr Evans being covered in the beans.

It will end 24 hours later, when his two friends have their heads shaved and he will be allowed to step out of the beans-filled bath and into a clean one.

Susan Hester, Richard's mum, said: "We are really pleased they are doing it. I think it's great."
