I notice that the haulage operators and farmers are whingeing about Britain being a police state, now that they are prevented from demonstrating in certain parts of the country.

I didn't hear them complain back in 1984, when the miners and trade unions had their freedom to demonstrate taken away when all they were doing was fighting for their jobs.

What I did notice back in 1984 was the haulage companies, aided by the police and with the backing of the Conservative government, driving through miners' picket lines, helping bring the dispute to a bitter end, costing miners their jobs.

And I didn't hear or see them demonstrating against the Criminal Justice Act Bill, passed by the last Conservative government.

Which brings me to the conclusion that these haulage company operators and farmers are not interested in the costs and benefits to the people of this country. All they're interested in are their own profits and bringing down a Labour government.
