HEROIN addict Susie Renicks has been released from custody after admitting breaking into a woman's car to steal her handbag.

She was on bail on a charge of stealing groceries.

The 22-year-old told the court that she had not taken drugs for a month.

She was released after spending two weeks on remand in custody while pre-sentence reports were prepared, after she admitted the two thefts and a common assault.

Rhys Davies, prosecuting, said the first offence took place in Chippen-ham when Renicks was seen leaving Sainsbury's with a trolley containing groceries worth £274.02.

A member of staff saw her leaving and called police. Officers stopped the vehicle on the M4 and Renicks, of Exmouth Street, was arrested.

Mr Davies said that Renicks was then arrested after a woman's handbag was stolen from a car at the Liden Centre on Octo-ber 11.

He said the common assault took place when Renicks was being held in police custody in the early hours of October 17 when she spat in the face of detention officer Don-ald Ivy.

Magistrates adjourned the case against Renicks, who admitted two counts of theft, a common assault and failing to surrender to bail, to December 19.
