There is no doubt that STEAM is one of the finest museums in the country and it is here in Swindon.
It was given the Royal seal of approval when Prince Charles performed the opening ceremony in June.
As a result people have come from all parts of the country and abroad to see our railway heritage in all its magnificence.
It is a well thought out, well organised attraction and should be one of the many things that Swindon can boast about and be proud of.
But the problem to date is that there have not been enough visitors.
As a result there are now worries over its long term future.
But Swindon Borough Council, which has already subsidised the venture to the tune of almost £500,000, is determined that it won't fail.
We agree that the sign posts to the attraction need improving because it is difficult to find your way there. The vast majority of our readers who have been there think it's superb.
STEAM must survive with the help of all of us and we must continue to spread the word of its excellence.
