SWINDON suffered their first league defeat for 27 games when they lost 22-7 to league-leaders Beaconsfield.
They knew that they were up for a tough battle when they travelled to play the table-topping side, but club captain Andy Morley still felt gutted after the result.
"We just didn't perform," he said. "They were a good side and they showed us how far we still have to go."
Swindon started brightly, and drew first blood when Adam Westall sent centre Mark Beckenham under the posts.
But Beaconsfield gradually clawed their way back into the game, and then took the lead shortly before half-time.
Swindon simply did not compete in the second half, but their opponents could only seal the victory with a try two minutes from time.
The Third XV recorded a mammoth 97-0 crushing of Aldbourne, and the Veterans beat Gosford All Blacks 49-0.
