United Churches Cricket Club have delved into their past for a Millennium Dinner on Saturday.

The club has attempted to trace anyone who played regularly for the club since it reformed after World War II.

They have sent out invitations to all of them and have had so many replies that they needed to book a larger venue.

Secretary David Martin said: "We could name a team to represent each decade from the fifties onwards with all those who have accepted the invitation.

"We have tried to trace as many former players as possible. We thought we might have half a dozen, but all told, our numbers have more than doubled.

"More people that have represented the club will be brought together than ever before, or probably will ever again."

The special dinner is one of a three-part millennium plan for the Sevenhampton-based club.

They have also extended their square and their pavilion, and organised a new club badge design.

Anyone interested in attending the dinner, where former Sussex captain John Barclay will be speaking, should ring Mr Martin on Swindon 770171.
