People are inadvertently killing hedgehogs by feeding them milk, the Wiltshire Wildlife Hospital has warned
Three have already died and Nick Mayl, from the hospital, fears many more will follow.
Contrary to popular belief, hedgehogs are unable to digest milk because it is too thick.
Instead it gluts in the creatures' stomach and eventually poisons them.
Mr Mayl explained the problem occurs when baby hedgehogs miss hibernation because they are too small.
He said: "People want to help so they give them milk which is killing them.
"Cat food is the best thing to give them."
Charlie, pictured here, and Albi, were found in Covingham and will be cared for at the hospital until the Spring.
