I HAVE just received a publication, November 11, with the now almost compulsory headline from Mr Terry King and his FRAG Lobby.
They have made it abundantly clear just what their agenda is really all about. Build all the industrial and housing to the north, west and east but keep their little view for the few of them in the south.
They seem to have a very Victorian outlook to suggest that people want to live next door to their place of work. We have moved on, quite a bit from the "worker must live next door to his employment" era.
All people want a nice view, not just those in the southern sector of Swindon.
Regarding the much emphasised flooding, I live close to the River Cole, which ran very high, but did not flood, though either side was too wet for walking. However, it soon drained away, as it did on the Front Garden, judging from the letters in the Advertiser.
Regarding the £200 million the land sale would generate would at least benefit the whole of Swindon and not just the few with a view.
Swindon councillors are voted in to represent everyone. Each area has to share the burden of development if such a large scale building programme as ordered by the Government is necessary. With the birth rate in decline, just who are we building the houses for?
