Whatever happens in tonight's vote on the Front Garden, one thing is sure, there must be no sitting on the fence.
After months of waiting we have come to the day when a final decision will be made and only a straight yes or no vote will be acceptable.
Anything else will be an insult to the people who have campaigned furiously to prevent building on the Front Garden, and to those who say it's the only place to put the 3,800 homes Swindon needs.
The Labour group has already voiced its support for the development, the Liberal Democrats are vehemently opposed, and Tory leader Mike Bawden has said that he will personally vote against it but he cannot speak for the rest of his group.
This newspaper hopes that those councillors holding the key to the issue have the courtesy to use the powers the electorate gave them.
Don't dodge the issue use your vote and let the people of Swindon see where you stand.
