Rehersals for Heddington Amateur Dramatics Society's latest production Miss Muffet's Mistake are well underway.
Performances of the panto, written by villager John Humphries, start on Wednesday.
Mr Humphries, of Holmleigh, Heddington, said the pantomime, which is the ninth he has written, was only loosely based on the nursery rhyme Little Miss Muffet.
"Instead of the spider frightening Miss Muffet away, she actually kills it, which makes her a very naughty little girl," he said.
"The queen of the spiders takes her away and is going to eat her for her dinner. Throughout the pantomime all the other characters go on adventures trying to find her and bring her back."
Mr Humphries said rehearsals were going well. "Everyone seems to be enjoying themselves and if you can make the cast laugh that is always a good sign."
However Mr Humphries says this may be his last panto, as finding a quirky new angle on a traditional story is starting to get difficult. "I might give someone else a chance next year," he said.
Tickets are available from Centre News in Calne and The Ivy Inn in Heddington.
