A vasectomy and a pile of well-rotted manure are among the stranger lots up for grabs at an auction of promises being held in Derry Hill tomorrow.
Proceeds from the fundraising event will go towards furnishing and landscaping the new Lansdowne Hall, which was opened by Lord Lansdowne a fortnight ago.
The vasectomy has been donated by a doctor in the area who wished to remain anonymous.
Tina Bradley, one of the hall trustees, said she was led to believe it was not the first time he had donated one.
"It's certainly going to be an auction with a difference," she said. "You would think people would be embarrassed to bid for a vasectomy but apparently it's the women who usually bid for it.
"We're expecting the night to be great fun."
Not content with raising more than £300,000 in five years to have the hall built, enthusiastic villagers are still working hard to put the finishing touches to the new facility.
"The support we've been getting is fantastic, especially since people have actually been and seen how lovely the hall is," said Mrs Bradley.
The trustees are already planning further fundraising events to have a tennis court built.
Some of the more conventional lots on offer include a guided tour of Bowood House, riding lessons, a round of golf for two and a flight in an aerobatic plane.
The auction of promises starts at 7.30pm tomorrow in the Lansdowne Hall.
