Art students preparing for their GCSE exams at Pewsey Vale School have received extra help from top Royal Academy tutor Charlotte Steel, thanks to a local art society.
Ms Steel ran a series of life drawing workshops at the Wilcot Road school all day last Wednesday bringing a professional model for the students to draw.
Teacher Peter Hussey, the head of design and technology at Pewsey, said 23 Year 11 art students who will be taking their GCSEs next year were given a thorough grounding in charcoal life drawings.
Mr Hussey said Ms Steel started by showing the Pewsey pupils the basic construction of a figure drawing before progressing to detailed sketches of the clothed model.
He said: "It worked absolutely brilliantly and gave the students a lot of confidence so that by the end of the day they were producing excellent finished pieces of work."
An exhibition of the students' work was mounted for visitors to the annual speech day and prize-giving on Tuesday.
The Royal Academy outreach visit was organised and sponsored by the Pewsey Vale Decorative and Fine Art Society. Member Susan Ennion said: "This is a new venture of promoting arts opportunities for the young in the Pewsey Vale."
