A million pounds worth of sports facilities were unveiled on Sunday when Devizes Sports Club officially opened the new pavilion at its London Road headquarters.
Club chairman Michael Gaiger paid tribute to the many people who had worked hard over the last six years to see the project through to completion.
Two-thirds of the cost was covered by grant aid from Sport England, the National Lottery's sports granting body, but the remaining £300,000 had to be found locally.
Mr Gaiger thanked Kennet District Council, The Samuel Farmer Trust, Wiltshire Community Foundation, Wadworth's and the many fundraisers who helped contribute to the total. He also thanked Richard Drury and the legal team at Wansbroughs, treasurer Roger Hamilton for keeping the finances under control, and the club's neighbours, Wiltshire police.
Veteran cricketer Tebby Ball, now approaching his 87th birthday and a member of the club for 66 years, cut the ribbon to officially open the pavilion.
He was accompanied by Enid and Mike Maundrell, stalwarts of Devizes Rugby Club, John Emery of the Devizes Tennis Club, and young members Tom Collins, Matthew Pearce and James Langan.
