AT least 150 children in the war-torn Balkans will have a Christmas to remember thanks to Lydiard Millicent Primary School.
Pupils, parents and staff took up a charity challenge from the Wootton Bassett branch of the Rotary Club.
They were asked to take in shoe boxes with a pound attached for postage and some gifts inside.
Because of the school's efforts, children who may never have had a Christmas present now have something to look forward to.
Head teacher Kathy Godfrey said: "The idea is for children to think about giving rather than what they are going to receive.
"The children also watched a video provided by the Rotary organisation.
"It was very emotive, and showed that some children have never received a Christmas gift. We have 152 pupils aged from four to 11, and we set a target of 150 boxes, but we have well over that number."
