Former head tower guide at Salisbury Cathedral Ken Lorrain was among people honoured by the south Wiltshire business community at a City Hall awards ceremony.
Mr Lorrain (73), who has only recently stepped down from the voluntary job, was presented with a cup and a cheque for £250 as this year's winner of the Salisbury Journal City Award.
The award recognises outstanding charitable works and Mr Lorrain was chosen as the first winner of the new millennium for his 26 years of voluntary service to the cathedral.
Another Salisbury Newspapers' accolade - the Journal's Long Service
Award together with £250 - went to Eric Lanham, who retired in August after 45 years with Salisbury company Poynting's - now known as Mobility Solutions Ltd.
Mr Lanham was hailed for his loyalty to the company and "great skill and ability" in converting vehicles for use by disabled drivers.
A third Salisbury Newspapers' prize - the Avon Advertiser Employee of the
Year Award together with a cheque for £1,000 - was presented to Guy Green, of Dunlop Hiflex.
Mr Green began working at Dunlop Hiflex as a packer 14 years ago and has worked his way up through the company to hold a senior management position as change manager.
