PERFORMANCE OF THE WEEK
THE boys from Trowbridge Wanderers under 12s upset the form book to beat Westbury Youth in the under 12s cup in the Wiltshire Times and News Mid-Wilts Youth and Minor League.
They clinched their place by winning a tense penalty shoot-out 4-3 after the game had ended in stalemate after extra-time.
They are this week's winners of the Wiltshire Times and Chippenham News performance of the week award, nominated by their manager Nigel Merchant.
He said: "Westbury are in a higher division and as under 11s won the cup last season.
"Wanderers played all of the extra-time period with only ten players, as the substitute had been used and then an injured player had to go off."
Our award is open to all local sportsmen and women, individuals and teams, and is designed to recognise achievement in any sport.
It could be a golfer making a hole-in-one, an angler catching a big fish or a rugby player scoring a great try.
