A MELKSHAM man who crashed his car outside a bank in Trowbridge admitted failing to provide police with a breath specimen when he appeared at court last Thursday.
Andrew McLeish, 24, of The Friars, pleaded guilty to driving while disqualified, driving without insurance and failing to provide a breath specimen.
Amanda Sawetz, prosecuting, said police spotted the broken down Ford Orion struggling to drive away in Trowbridge town centre.
On being asked for a specimen of breath, McLeish made two weak efforts, saying he was asthmatic.
Miss Sawetz said: "He said he had had a row with his girlfriend and had a couple of pints and Prozac. He was stressed out. He then crashed into a bank.
"He said he suffers from asthma and couldn't blow for a period of time without coughing."
Stacey Turner, defending, advised the court that pre-sentence reports could be useful in establishing McLeish's background and state.
Magistrates ordered an all-options report and adjourned the case until December 6 at Chippenham.
