They met on a Swindon bus more than 53 years ago and the wheels of love have been turning ever since.
Dennis Alsworth, now 75, was the conductor on the No 183 from the Town Hall to Stratton and Rita, 69, was his favourite passenger.
Tomorrow the Alsworths will celebrate their golden wedding anniversary.
The couple, of Penhill Drive, explained how their love developed over a series of bus trips in 1947.
"I was working as a shop assistant and caught the bus home everyday and Dennis would take my fare, thr'pence (11/2p)," said Rita.
After weeks of small talk Dennis eventually plucked up the courage to invite Rita to the pictures and soon the couple were courting.
On November 25 in 1950 they wed at the Methodist Chapel in Stratton.
After moving into their first home in Rodbourne, Dennis started work on the railways while Rita became a housewife.
In 1951 son Michael was born, followed by daughter Shirley in 1954.
Dennis took up another job with Burmah Oil, where he worked until he retired.
The couple's only grandson, Simon, 25, has arranged a family party tomorrow.
"I don't know where the 50 years have gone," said Rita.
