AUSSIE striker Clayton Zane has been given the chance to earn a deal at Swindon Town as manager Andy King continues to shuffle his squad.
The giant 23-year-old is training with the club this week and has already impressed at the County Ground boss.
Currently on the books of Norwegian side Molde, Zane is looking to play his football in England and was recently connected with a move to Queen's Park Rangers.
He was one of three trialists invited along to a special training match at Allied Dunbar yesterday.
One player was told he could leave after only 45 minutes, but Zane will stay for the remainder of the week while an unnamed third player may return for a second chance next week.
King also revealed that he had let Danish defender Kim Heiselberg leave the club after a nightmare four-month stay.
Heiselberg only played a handful of appearances after being signed by former boss Colin Todd in the summer and after talks with King he agreed that it would be best for his career to leave Swindon.
The mass of player activity is yet further proof that manager Andy King is keen to develop his own squad.
"We have 30 players in the squad and I simply cannot have players of Kim Heiselberg's stature, who are on good money, playing reserve- team football," said King.
He is, however, keen to attract new talent to give the first team a lift and one such player could be Zane.
A close friend of Town midfielder and fellow Australian Mark Robertson, Zane played alongside Leeds favourite Mark Viduka in the Olympic Socceroos side in Sydney when the hosts were knocked out in the opening group stages.
King likes the look of the 6ft 3ins forward, but he warned Zane's move to QPR did not go through because Molde would expect a fee for the player.
