I have been following this campaign on the issue of bus tokens for OAPs.
Tokens cost money, money we pay into the council tax. Why not use the Gold Card or a similar system? A one-off payment to include a photo of the holder should do the trick, and save money.
I do admire the efforts of Frank Avenell and his stalwarts for a courageous effort, but they are aware the council will do what it thinks best to hell with what the people want.
It would be useful to have the facility to use tokens on the train, but OAPs living out of town require the tokens simply to get into town.
I do not think a happy solution is to be arrived at on this subject.
That is why I think the simple solution is a type of gold card with photo. But maybe that is just too simple to introduce.
