Oneof Payne's victims has been living in fear that the entertainer would come back and assault her again.
Her parents, who were at court, hope the verdict will convince her she is safe and can put the crime behind her.
She was only eight when the entertainer indecently assaulted her after giving her a lift home from a party.
Her parents spoke of their relief on hearing the jury pronounce him guilty but say they are still living in limbo until he is sentenced.
"The most important thing is that all the girls were telling the truth all along," said her father.
"We feel disappointed Payne has not been sentenced straight away. The worst thing is having to come back because this building is full of memories.
"We just want to move on. We want justice to be served and to know he won't be able to do this to anyone else. Our daughter has always felt he will come back for her.
"In some way he has paid for it. We have told her and she is relieved it is all over. But she is still in shock."
The girl's parents also spoke of their shock at finding out that their child had been abused.
"We never had a clue. He was a trusted member of the community and everybody's friend. I couldn't believe it when she told me," said her father.
"Our daughter has changed. She was just getting over it and now it has all come back. She knows she has done the right thing but I don't think she will ever forget.
"We just don't know how it is going to affect her when she is older and trying to form relationships."
