Leigh Childs is a not a man to take a hint easily.
The Old Town-based martial arts expert found out the hard way last year that mistiming a kick at a 36ft long sword can be a rather painful experience.
The Tae Kwon Do expert severed four tendons in his left foot last year while trying to kick an apple from the sword.
As the climax to this year's Black-Belt Extravaganza at the Oasis Leisure Centre, the Master Instructor tried again this time using his right foot.
"I've never been somebody who quits that easily. It would have been easy not to do it again but who wants to live their life easy?" he said.
Leigh's repeat performance brought the curtain down on a day of martial arts excellence yesterday.
Four hundred of his students took part.
