The annual battle against festive drink driving was being launched in Swindon today.
More than 1,000 Wiltshire drivers tested positive last year.
Representatives from Swindon Road Safety, Wiltshire Police and a former drink driver who has completed a rehabilitation course were due to gather at the Brunel Centre for the start of the campaign today. A giant alcometer will serve as a reminder that Swindon drivers should think twice before getting behind the wheel after drinking. Wiltshire police will be armed with 135 alcometers to test drivers from today until December 31.
This year's television adverts feature classic Christmas hits such as I Wish It Could Be Christmas Every Day and Mistletoe and Wine.
The songs are juxtaposed with scenes of drink drive accidents from real police footage.
It is hoped the harrowing crash images will hammer home the message that drink driving wrecks lives.
Information about the campaign will be displayed in washrooms in the town's pubs. Those convicted of drink driving are disqualified for a minimum of 12 months and could face a £5,000 fine or six months in prison.
Anyone convicted of causing death by careless driving while under the influence of drink or drugs could face up to 10 years behind bars.
