Volunteers tried their hand at painting and decorating at the weekend for charity
About 20 people showed up for a community painting party in Sussex Square on Saturday.
The aim of the day was to refurbish the showroom of Topdrawer Furniture Recycling Centre to make it more attractive for the public.
The charity runs a second-hand furniture shop, with reduced prices for people on benefits.
Using donated paints and equipment, the volunteers helped to totally revamp the charity's showroom.
Project manager Kathie Strange said: "This is a way that the community can get involved with what we are trying to do.
"Eventually we are hoping to offer NVQs to young people working with us, ranging from customer care to carpentry."
The shop sells anything from electrically-tested washing machines to beds.
