WELL-KNOWN Swindonian Tony Hazell received a proper New Orleans send-off at his funeral last week.
His funeral cortege was led to the crematorium by a jazz band, followed by friends on foot.
Tony, who died at the age of 61 after suffering from heart problems, is survived by two brothers Derek and Alan.
He was well-known for his dedication to the promotion of live jazz in the town, and he was a founder member of Swindon Jazz Society in 1962.
The music-lover was also the driving force behind Swindon Jazz Front between 1985 and 1995, which promoted new, younger jazz musicians at the Link Centre.
He was also employed at the Town Hall Studios as co-ordinator and promoted dance, art, and sculpture.
His cremation which took place on Friday, November 24, was attended by family and friends, including North Swindon MP Michael Wills, London jazz critic Stan Britt and Terry Court, retired borough arts officer.
