I think that it is ridiculous for Wiltshire police to have two cars and officers guarding the spilt beer after a lorry hit the Wootton Bassett railway bridge.
It was all right for them to be on site during the two hour period when the road was obstructed. But why the further two and a half hour period?
The Iceland depot is only a few hundred yards away from the bridge. Why didn't Iceland get a lorry there in the first couple of hours? Or get one of their staff to sit on the pile of tins?
Wiltshire police should be recompensed; or a donation made to their Benevolent Fund. And what about an apology to the drivers of Swindon?
They are just tired of roadworks, delays and more roadworks!
