By way of this letter I would like to say a public thank you to Sally Barker, the organiser-in-chief of this year's Swindon Christmas Carnival.
Anyone who was able to get to the town centre to witness the street parade will know that this was an experience second to none and very many thanks are due to Sally for all of her hours of hard work, considerable patience and unusual flair in putting together what has been, I think, the best Christmas street parade so far.
As we were walking around the town centre before and after the parade we were aware that people had come to Swindon from other towns all across the region such is the fame our Christmas Carnival now enjoys and each year it gets better and better!
Despite the predicted bad weather, the sun shone (as it always does on Swindon's parade day) and everyone seemed to enjoy the exotic, and slightly potty, entertainment on show.
Thank you also to co-sponsors, McDonalds and also Advertising Design and Print, without whom the funding of this event would not have been possible.
Once again Swindon can truly claim to have a class act well done Sally and well done everyone who helped make it a fun day to remember.
