A STOLEN garden gnome has taken up temporary residence at Calne Police Station.
Officers have launched their own Find The Gnome A Home campaign and are appealing for Gazette readers' help.
The gnome, which is believed to have been stolen, was handed in last week and is being looked after by WPC Julie Lewis.
The homeless figure has caused more than a few laughs at the station, with Sgt Richard Ball's office being renamed The Gnome Office by colleagues.
"We need to find this gnome a home," said Sgt Ball.
He was picked up when officers were investigating an unrelated incident at an address in Calne.
They were told the cheeky chap was stolen.
"Someone might be missing him," Sgt Ball said.
If anyone knows who the gnome belongs to, they should contact WPC Lewis on (01249) 654455 or call into the station.
