A WOMAN who has spent 33 years working in the field of biotechnology, received her MBE from the Queen at Buckingham Palace on Friday.
Brenda Mortimer, who has lived in Marlborough for the past ten years, works for the Biotechnology and Biological Research Council in Swindon.
She has been involved in a wide range of Government research underpinning the world of biological sciences.
"We deal with biological sciences finding out why things happen, researching the problem and are involved with the diagnosis. This can involve agriculture, food and all avenues of research," said Mrs Mortimer.
Mrs Mortimer is a member of the Savernake Hospital League of Friends and works as a volunteer on a weekly basis on one of the wards at the hospital. "It is something I really enjoy," she said.
Her award was given in the Queen's Birthday Honours list
