A NEW Learning Access Point at Chippenham Library will give people without computers a chance to surf the web and brush up on IT skills.

The Access Point, which comprises five PCs, each offering office software, printing, scanning and desk-top publishing facilties, is due to open on Monday.

A spokesman for Wiltshire County Council said: "There is also free access to the Internet and links to online courses offered by the University for Swindon and Wiltshire Project.

"This community IT centre within Chippenham Library will offer those who do not have other means of access the chance to learn or improve their computer skills and access the wealth of information on the Internet.

"Students will be able to research and type their projects and job seekers will be able to write and print their CVs."

County, district and town councillors have been invited to the opening launch which takes place at 2pm on Monday.

The spokesman added: "Libraries have always been used by people from all walks of life, not just for leisure, but to further personal development, learn new skills and perhaps even branch into new careers.

"The new Learning Access Point at Chippenham brings another dimension to community service.
