Further heavy rain has brought to a sudden halt the slow improvement of river and lake levels and the amount of water on the banksides, writes Roland Batten.
The Avon and Nadder are both topping their banks and in many places have crept back over on to surrounding land.
Fishing conditions have been difficult, to say the least, and it is only the brave and determined, facing high winds, torrential rain and slippery banks who have succeeded.
Once again big roach have been caught with a 3lb 2oz specimen from the Avon.
A bag of decent chub to 3lb plus was taken by Salisbury angler John Martin fishing the Avon in Salisbury.
At Waldens Farm Fishery some excellent perch have come from Bishops Lake up to 2lb 8oz taken on worm and maggot while pike anglers are enjoying good sport with fish to 15lb.
For the foreseeable future river anglers will have to search for slack eddies out of the main, fast current and take care when walking along flooded meadows and river banks.
The area's lake fisheries are all full of water and while none report any flooding problems at the moment, further rain could change this.
