THE North Wilts Group of Amnesty International wishes to thank two local donors for their substantial donations towards the work of Amnesty International.
It has received £400 from St Andrew's Church and £364 from a local resident.
This money will be passed on to the head office in London.
The group's members are greatly encouraged by these expressions of faith in the values of Amnesty's work.
The group is now working on behalf of Dr Min Kyi Win, who was elected in 1990 as an MP for the Mon Democratic Front in Burma.
The People's Parliament, headed by Aung San Suu Kyi, has never been allowed to convene and in 1998 Dr Min Kyi Win was imprisoned solely for having been elected to the Parliament. He faces seven years' hard labour.
On December 9 there will be a collection in Chippenham High Street.
And it is hoped James Mawdsley, who was recently released from a Burmese jail, will be speaking here at a public meeting in the spring.
