PURTON Cricket Club recently held both their presentation dinner and AGM.
The dinner was held in the Ghost Train and the awards were presented by Dave Woolford, the club's representative from their main sponsor La Farge Plasterboard, to: Clubman John Miles; President Trophy Nic Carter; 1st XI Batting Mike Booth (410); 1st XI Bowling Robert Preddy (24); 2nd XI Batting Ben Collier (389); 2nd XI Bowling Dean Wherry (26); Most Catches Ben Collier (23). Youth Awards: Outstanding Junior Ben Collier; Garratt Trophy Dean Miles; Collier Trophy Tom Bowler.
The AGM was fronted by chairman Paul Bennett who commented on the club's successful season both on and off the field.
The 1st XI finished seventh in Division Two of the Glos and Wilts League, narrowly avoiding relegation by 0.3 of a point. They were ably supported by the 2nd XI, who after a slow start finished fifth, with various experienced captains managing to get the best out of a very young side.
The club ran a successful and well organised youth section who, under the guidance of grade two coach Dale Bowler, won both the North Wilts Under-15 and Under-13 leagues.
The Ladies section also had proud playing record, winning 13 of their 15 matches and finishing second in the league with Jan Beese scoring her maiden century.
