FOREST Green Rovers defender Wayne Hatswell has signed for Oxford for £35,000.
The 25-year-old from Moredon attracted the interest of a host of clubs with his consistent performances at the back for Conference team Rovers.
As a Swindon Town supporter, Hatswell said he would relish a move to the County Ground but it was not to be. The centre-half shot to fame when his own goal in the FA Cup defeat by Morecambe was shown to millions of viewers on Match of the Day two weeks ago.
However, he netted twice in Rovers' 2-1 victory over Dover last week and received a special mention on MOTD. Hatswell's path to professional football was been an unconventional one.
Just over a year ago, he was at lowly Cinderford Town in the lower reaches of non-League football.
He said: "I have done it the hard way, but I have improved as I have gone along."
