ART expert Robert Gillan will give a lecture on William Blake at the December meeting of Bradford on Avon Arts Association.
Mr Gillan has lectured on art throughout Europe and North America since 1977 and aims to help people understand what artists were trying to express with their paintings and why and how they did it.
Mr Gillan said: "I consider art to be a language and the aim of the artist, therefore, is to communicate.
"Sadly, we have all too often lost track of the artist's message and meaning and we have tended instead to look at art through 20th century eyes."
The meeting is at the Swan Hotel in Bradford on Avon on Sunday. The event starts at 7.30pm and costs £3.
The talk ties in with the William Blake exhibition being held at the Tate Britain until February 11.
