EXTENSIVE consultations about the future of a controversial mill site in Bradford on Avon have delayed the public unveiling of detailed plans.

Taywood Homes was due to unveil the final stage of draft plans for the Kingston Mill site yesterday, but the exhibition was unable to include all the information the firm had intended.

A spokesman said the project's architects, Broadway Malyan, had been so busy dealing with comments from the previous consultations they were unable to complete new detailed plans in time.

Hundreds of people have already visited the two exhibitions held by the firm this autumn.

The Taywood spokesman said: "The plans are not as forward as we had hoped. The architects have been so busy talking to people there has not been enough time to do many of the final drawings. We hope people will not be disappointed.

"Seventy-five per cent of people who visited the last exhibition supported the ideas and the concept of the architects.

"These drawings go further than the last exhibition but not as far as the final ones. We were hoping to give details of materials. It is all to do with the rush to get the plans in before Christmas."

The firm is considering the possibility of holding another, more detailed, exhibition in the town after Christmas.

Town councillor Malcolm Hewson has urged people to visit the exhibition, which runs at the Riverside Inn until 5pm tomorrow, and make their views known.

He said: "This may be the best chance for the people of the town to comment, because the councils are severely constrained in what they can object to under planning law."
