The past came to life this week for pupils at Moredon Infants School when they visited Swindon's Steam railway museum.
More than 50 pupils aged between five and seven visited the museum, near the Great Western Designer Outlet Village at Churchward, as part of a project on transport.
Theresa Seviour, a teacher at the school, said: "We've been looking at the topic of transport for a while, and we visited the museum to find out about the history of trains and to use the visit as a starting point for our artwork.
"Steam provided the children with a set of questions to answer during their tour, and we made drawings of the trains to use when we got back to the classroom.
"The interactive displays were a big hit with the children. They've got computer programs for them to get to grips with, plus trains for them to clamber all over.
"We had a fantastic day out and the children absolutely loved it."
